작가는 우리의 삶 속 어딘가에서 너무나 익숙하게 자리 잡고 있다 쓰임을 다하고 버려진 것들을 바라본다. 그것을 대하는 또 다른 눈이 뜨일 때까지 그 작업은 이어진다.

우리는 호흡하지 않는 사물에 대해 생명이 없다고 생각하지만 자원의 세계에서도 그것은 생명이 있는 것과 마찬가지로 태어나고 죽는 흐름을 갖는다. 어떠한 목적을 위해 만들어지고, 낡고 마모되어 제 역할을 다하면 버려져 사물의 생이 끝나는 것이다. 작가는 그가 찾은 오브제 속에서 시간의 흔적과 그 안에 담긴 이야기를 발견하고, 생이 끝났다 여긴 사물에 그가 살아온 삶의 부분들을 표현하며 새로운 생명을 불어넣는다. 사물의 삶과 작가의 삶이 교감하며 시간을 쌓아 만들어진 작품은 ‘낡았다’가 아닌 ‘친숙하다’는 느낌으로 다가온다.

이번 전시는 그의 교감이 과거의 삶이 아닌 현재, 지금 이 순간 그가 생생하게 느끼는 생명을 담았다는 것에서 특별하다. 산이 감싸고 물이 흐르는 곳에서 생명에 대한 경험을 오감으로 받아들이며 기억 속에 있는 생명이 아닌 지금 호흡하고 있는 물고기를 눈으로 보고, 흙을 만지며, 밤에는 낮게 노래하는 새소리를 들었다.

그가 자연에서 만난 생명과의 소통은 작품에 녹아들어 작지만 강하고 푸른 메시지로 사람의 마음을 움직인다.

Artist You looks at things seen familiarly in our lives and abandoned after the use. The work continues until another perspectives towards them turn up.

We often think that the things that do not breathe have no life,
however in the world of resources, they also have birth and death just as the living things do. They are made for a certain purpose, worn out and discarded when their roles end. Artist You discovers a trace of time and a story in the object he found, and he brings a new life to things which life is considered over by expressing the parts of his life. The artwork created by the communicative life of the object and the artist's life comes with a feeling of "familiar" rather than “old.”

The exhibition is special given that the communicative life represents not his past life, but the life he feels vividly at this moment. He concentrated on his work with experiencing his ve senses about the life in a place surrounded by mountains and water. He saw living shes, touched the soil, and listened to birds singing small at night, not the life in his memory.

His communication with life in nature is melted into his artwork,
which moves people's minds with small but strong, blue messages.
